55 NON-Fiction #1 - "The Unfortunate Player"

She was the daughter of poor parents, student of great coach, and indeed a talented kabaddi player. She could enter the probables’ list for Indian team. Selectors asked Rs. 1, 00,000 for giving her the deserved spot. She had given and participated in the common-wealth games. When they asked for money next time, she said “Get Lost”.

PS: It is not a fictional work, so as the title is. The player is one of the students of my mother, and the coach is the P.E.T. sir in our school. Now she is working in railways. She still loves kabaddi, but she has got no offers now. She is trying to enter in to the Indian civil services.

I like fictional works, and I love non-fictional works. So, I have decided to start this 55 NON-Fiction series. Hope I would keep some bare truths about the ‘people of little humanity’ here.

Please do share your opinions, both on the series and on the subject of this post. Thank You!

Do you actually have to use 55 words Prams. I'm not sure I understand. Please explain! I have heard of something like this but don't know exactly what it means.

That's like so irritating and unfortunate..unfair is the word...i don't know when will we change...and when will deserving people be where they deserve to be rather than those whose potential is as much as the money they have!
what should say just hope the talented girl makes through the civil services...all the best to her!!
thanks a ton for taking up the initiative of writing non-fiction and bringing out the hard core realities to the front dear!
very well thought of!looking forward to reading more of this!

Pramoda,

I admire the girl for taking firm decision second time. It is a pity that such unwanted incidents happen. Hope she gets chance again.

Take care

HI Hary,

I would say, there are N number of unfortunate players even in cricket, where the N is overshadowed by the playing 11.

Thanks:)

It is a very relevant post for many talented sportspersons and others in every sphere of life. I think so many players and artists are lost to us because of such commercial stakes that are just looking at profits and not at quality. What a sad state of affairs.

It is very sad Pramoda to see talent go unnoticed because the talented don't have contacts or the money. I wish we see a change in this regard. As always really like the way you think :)
