The Afternoon Nap…

Last time I remember paying attention to the inescapable situations demanding me not to lose my attention especially after the lunch and that too continuously for years was way back in 90’s when I was in school, if I were to speak three years before.

Since I completed my schooling, my mind has been trained to choose to sleep if it feels like so, no matter if it was a study-hour or a lab session or any relevant or irrelevant work under the sun.

I along with all my friends studied in our graduation college wouldn’t even take a minute before agreeing the fact that the afternoon nap was the first and the foremost thing we got used to, with the then time table being the culprit.

If I were to check the students having their heads down on the benches in the breaks between the classes during the afternoon sessions in a coaching center after our 3rd year B.tech, they were none other than the great college mates of mine, along with me of course.

Post graduation is of course no different ball game but then for us it was mandatory to conduct lab sessions for the B.tech students. Now that was a situation when you got to stick to the rule that you wouldn’t allow anyone to sit idle and sleep, though you could do it provided you keep everyone else in the room busy enough!

Back to the present time, once again after the mishap during the schooling, more than a situation demands people to keep themselves away from nap, people sit around definitely do. As we could do it almost effortlessly in the first days at office, reason might have been the over consciousness just as any other fresher did have, it becomes tough year after the year! I think I can tell you that my colleagues would add their voices in saying so with no second thought. Otherwise, you know how it feels when you have to appear sincere though you know you are cornered in a way, that too alone! No way!

Now that I’m supposed to deliver I’ll miss no effort in rising to the situation not just to work as I’m required to, but also set myself a benchmark in doing so, only to make myself believe that its as easy as pulling the fingertips, provided you want to do so.

I have heard that great leaders like Napoleon,Churchil used to have short naps when opportunities present themselves to get recharghed for the greater tasks ahead. It is fine so long you are not 'caught napping'in offices or schools.Day time sleep is more a habit and can be got rid off.
