What punishment does she deserve?

He was a great lecturer who was believed to had sacrificed many things for his profession. He was liked and loved by his students. His class used to be the most student-friendly session for his beloved students.

She was his favorite student. She was well liked by her classmates. She was a brilliant and beautiful hearty girl who always respected him equal to what she did her parents. She was so polite to him than to any other lecturer.

One day, when his lecture was going on, she was downcast and involved herself in doing something. He had observed the same and approached her. He got surprised to see her doing another subject work in his class. He was very upset as he had never expected her to be so.

The same day she was caught copying in his exam. In fact, she was from the batch of her classmates who had been mass copying all together in the exam. She was forced to do so. To her bad time, he was the invigilator who found her doing so.

Frown surrounded his eyes immediately. She stood guilty and held her head down. She knew that the only thing that he could not tolerate was what she had done just now. As it was done by his favorite student, he was very upset indeed.

He walked out of the class. She stood silent with trembling body.

She went to his office after sometime to apologize. He was seen doing something in his personal computer. He seemed very disinterested to talk to her. She prepared herself to face any kind of punishment, but all she wanted was to retain the liking and blessings of her lecturer who was just more than a teacher to her.

Now, according to you what punishment does she deserve? What would you do if you are in the place of the lecturer? Please do share your views. Thank you.

Um i guess she don't deserve any punishment.

I am thinking from students point of view..cheating n timepass is an all time right of a student xD

lol

I think the professor ahould talk to her and should show his disapproval for sometimes this would make her realise that herd mentality is not a good thing...on the professors part taking things too far wont be a good thing, if she is his good student he should give her another chance.
Doubts remain in our heart but they can be removed with time, through right conduct.

To me, the professor should talkto her and know what went wrong?? is it his own perception that went wrong or is it she cheated him??

Its better if the professor talks to her and setle the matter else, she would not be able to attend any other classes nicely so its better to discus to keep her morale up towards studies, twards life...!!1

For me, it would totally depend on how old she is. I mean if she were 20 or older, I would be really disappointed. If this were school, I would merely let it go as a phase of the experimental mind of a child.

Whatever I pass it off as, I would make sure she knows how her actions made me feel. It is the responsibility of those who are hurt to let the person know. Especially, in a relationship that is so special.

Letting a person know shall (hopefully) deter them from acting out in similar manner without thinking of others.

Too much information?
:P

THe teacher must give her an audience and hear her out. And maybe leave her with a warning.

Pramoda,

I feel he should keep silent for a couple of days and then talk to her as Ms Meduri suggested to find out what went wrong. By then she too would have had time to reflect on her wrongs.

Take care

I feel the professor should talk it.....thats the best way to handle such situations so that both get chance to give their point and the problems get solved.

she deserved nothign, she did what she had to do and she should accept it and keep quiet. Lest, let the prof decide!!

I would ask her why she did such a thing. I would be patient but also stern and won't let the favourite-student affection make her feel she can get away with anything....

I wont give a punishment as harsh but would tell her to study harder to avoid copying during exams...you know I always have a soft heart for kids like her...been a teacher and i never embarrassed a single student inside my class. I tried to talk to whoever did wrong in a closed door where he and me can only hear.

Very touching story Prams...I like it, reminds me of my days when I was a teacher and I hate the reaction of the teacher when the student went to his office and tried to ignore her.

I feel the teacher should speak openly to student .. Speaking out can solve everything

Though I have special interest in a student as favourite, I would not show it as a good teacher. I expect that that student should be considered as same as any other student, and take the same action.

this is a regular thing when you supervise.students are not bad at all..even if they are favourite ones or not, if they regret then,if they seem genuinely sorry then,it is fine.some get inocently caught while others do it deliberately.for the deliberate ones, who come prepared with materials to copy, they deserve punishment, simple:stopping them from writing and sending them out.in this case you hv pointed ,the teacher should be mature neough to understand, that it was her situtation and can forgive her provided she regrets.
