Team spirit is not only about being the one on whom the team can rely on; but at times, it is also about building the team which would not be required to rely on anyone, and hence making the team enough confident to move on!
Very well put, having had a son whose interest in life was football or as the Americans call it Soccer, he had to learn first hand about team work, but I like to think that team work not only applies to sport but the human race as a whole, if more team spirit was made the world may be a more happier place.
Interestingly put.Team spirit to me would be the trait demonstrated to put the interests of the team above oneself.There would be no place for self interest and any glory to individual is incidental to the team's endeavours.

Because if we do understand it, we will strive to achieve our aims which will make others see our efforts. We know that a person is not capable of doing a hundred things alone by himself. So having people joining minds and hands in working towards the same objective would certainly be the quickest route to achieving that goal. This works in every area of our lives. And the better we understand this -- the better for our world.
Keep churning out your gems of thoughts, Pram. It makes one think seriously about some life truths and realities... where otherwise would simply be taken for granted or shrugged off.
